I pride myself on transforming my clients’ dreams into a home they can enjoy for years to come. I see this as a very unique blending of their personality, the architecture of their home and it’s surrounding landscape.
– Michelle Woolley Sauter
Award winning artist Michelle Woolley Sauter has been a professional artist for more than twenty years. She has produced works collected world-wide with a large and varied portfolio from original paintings on canvas and wood, embellished prints, tapestries, and hand-painted original mirrors.
Michelle got her start designing furniture and artwork for Yacht Interior companies such as Ferretti of America, who commissioned her for all their art installations for their boats, Pavlik Yacht, Robin Rose & Associates and also Yacht Interiors by Shelley in Ft. Lauderdale, FL – an international hub for mega yachts and the yachting industry. Her work and influence can be seen in numerous hotels and private homes up and down the Atlantic Coast, around the Caribbean, Israel, Thailand, and even aboard Royal Caribbean’s Sovereign of the Seas.
She was sought after by the Swarovski crystal family for their personal estate in North Palm Beach, has designed entire lines for Tommy Bahama Stores International, and wallpaper lines for the Nessen Showroom Tropical Wallpapers line at the Design Center for the Americas. Her work has also earned the prestigious award of First Place | Best in Show – at the Hortt Memorial Competition, hosted by the Museum of Art, Ft. Lauderdale. Creating large-scale painting installations for the City of Celebration, Disney World International and being commissioned by designers for residential homes desiring framed original artwork all over South Florida are some of the highlights of her early years.
Michelle has been commissioned for artwork by some of the most prestigious art brokers and designers in the world. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, and made South Florida her ‘home base’ from which to provide her clients with unmatched excellence in custom art acquisitions.
When clients of Michelle’s work started to become social friends, that’s when her Interior Design career began to really take off. Her clients came to her home and fell in love with her aesthetic and love for interiors. Friends began asking her to ‘consider’ helping them with their Interior Design needs and she realized she had found her sweet spot! One Coast Design specializes in Residential and Yacht Interior Design from an artist’s perspective.
Michelle draws inspiration for her art from northern childhood memories of her Grandmothers lake house in Upper Michigan and the intoxicating beauty of sub-tropical South Florida where she lived for over twenty years…and everything in between. “I just love water scenes…my husband Brian and I travel extensively and I love to take pictures of our excursions up and down the Eastern Seaboard.” “Charleston, SC is the muse for our home here now in Summerville, just outside Charleston…I love the tranquil marriage of the ‘beach meets a city house’ feeling!”
Michelle’s ever expanding collection of watery abstracts that invoke ocean breezes and Low Country ‘scapes of dunes and open waters harken you to all the coastal Sea Islands along the Eastern Seaboard. Influenced by all those field trips and the ability to soak up the very unique flavors up and down the coast, she translates her travels and impressions into her interiors and onto the canvas as soon as she returns home to her busy Studio space, where creativity expands and dreams flow, so near and dear to her heart.
*Michelle is married to her Fabulous husband Brian, an Electrical Engineer and design connoisseur…and they have a sweet Mini-Goldendoodle named ‘Charleston’ (Charlie)! When they are not enjoying coastal haunts, or up in the air flying to someplace amazing, they live in their beautiful art-filled ‘Renovation in Progress’ Historic home just outside of Charleston, SC in Summerville…the name says it all!
