Entertaining Guests can be a daunting task unless you have all the essentials! Then, playing hostess is so much fun, Y’all! Not sure what items you will need to entertain guests? Don’t fret! I’m here to help, with a mood board full of fall entertaining essentials! And stay tuned, I think I just might make this hospitality thing a series! 😉
When did it become September?
Sweet friends! Can you believe it is already September!?!?! Apparently Thanksgiving is in less than 10 weeks… I can’t even, y’all!
Despite the sweltering heat here in Charleston, I am ready for some fall hospitality!! I’m truly chomping at the bit to entertain guests with some fun and festivities! So, that means its time to make a plan. I think I’ll start with the menu.
The Eats and Drinks
Hors d’oeurves first of course! I can create a lovely and delicious charcuterie board on this wooden slab and stunning bone-handled cheese knives. With local meat, cheese, preserves, and of course some nuts in a beautiful bowl, on the side, for my husband’s beer-drinking buddies!
For dinner, a yummy London Broil in a classic dutch oven is just the ticket! Oh and let’s not forget the wine (and water)! How classic are these glasses? Love them! Yes, please!
The Table Setting
When entertaining guests I love to really zhush up my table setting with lots of texture and layering! I always start with a thick or textured plate charger followed by a full-size plate, usually with a subtle design. To top it off I love a major statement! Preferably a bowl or side plate. (similar plate linked)
I also love quality cloth napkins (with monograms all the way) and of course some snazzy flatware! Think of your table as a pretty lady, don’t you want to dress her up!? She wants to show out!
Speaking of dressing up, how about some tall candle holders and a lidded ginger jar as a show-stopping center pice. Worried about open flames? I – do – too…my house is 170 years old and I ain’t takin chances!! Try these flameless, remote-controlled tapers! All the fuss, none of the muss!
One Final Touch
Finally, even though no one will be able to smell anything except the enticing aroma of food, I love seasonal potpourri in my entry foyer!
